Hi there! Teddy Columbus here to report on my very first Travel Centre adventure where I went to the Caribbean!
I was recently asked if I had ever been to the Caribbean – of course I replied, but never to Antigua. So I was overjoyed when Tina (who works in our Accounts Department) asked me to join her and her husband when they went on holiday and before you could cry "another rum punch please!" I’d agreed and was packing my bag!
We checked in at the Halcyon Cove in Dickensons Bay at about 5.00pm and were immediately given a well earned ice cold drink. We then made our way straight to the beach and oh my goodness what a beach! I could see plenty of empty sun beds for me to sunbath on and a stretch of beach with soft white sand and green coral seas.
We went to the Managers cocktail party on our first evening and were given the most delicious rum punch – I only had 2 of those and felt a bit tipsy. The food was plentiful and as it was a buffet there was a good variety of dishes. The staff at the hotel were very polite, helpful and I instantly got on well with Debbie the Assistant Hotel Manager, as you can see by my photo I had taken with her.
I did not go on any trips as I wanted to chill out the beach, but my companions went scuba diving with AK Watersports, which is located to the north of the beach. They came back and told me about all the amazing things they saw including Sting Rays, Conch, Angle Fish, Parrott Fish, Octopus, Trumpet Fish and whilst snorkelling they saw a beautiful and very rare Hawkesbill Turtle in the bay! Amazing!
So if you fancy a super relaxing holiday with guaranteed sunshine and great staff – choose the Halcyon Cove in Antigua.
Until next time Teddy Columbus over and out!
